According to livescience.com they polled a lot of people and a lot of scientists to find the “Top 10 Greatest Mysteries of Science.” It’s not surprising that in the top 5 you’ll find:
-Where is the rest of the universe? only 4% of the matter and energy in the universe has been found. How could they even know that?
-What drives evolution? what is evolution? That sounds made up…
-Who are you? -I’ve been asking myself that for a long time now…
-How did life arise on earth? -sounds like the evalootion question or however you say it.
Granted, I’m being ridiculous with my commentary, but really- it sounds like everyone’s looking for a beginning, and an ending and “science” has yet to yield solid results. Really, we don’t even know how gravity works. Still! If we’ve only come this far in decades and generations of modern science and research, it doesn’t sound like we’re going to have the time in our lives to get to the conclusion. Don’t get me wrong, I love science and nerdy things, but my faith hat hangs on God. Searching for answers is just too much fun, but honestly, I don’t “believe” in science.
Here’s a nerdy article: here
Just reading this makes me believe a lot of scientists believe in God but just don’t know it.
I’m a dork. These are my ramblings.

I think the whole evolution/creation thing is something a lot of Christians are a little confused about because evolution is taught in public schools and universities as fact. If we’re not careful, we’ll believe whatever we hear. Evolution is totally contrary to God’s Word and says that human life resulted from natural mutations and accidents. Evolution says that you are just an accident, no better than an animal, while creation says you are a unique person created by God for a purpose. The Bible clearly says in Genesis He created each creature to reproduce after its own kind. They didn’t evolve according to the Bible, and contrary to what scientists say, there’s just as much evidence (more actually) for the creation theory as for evolution. Both are just theories and take faith to believe.
I just wanted to point out that John 1 talks about how Jesus is the Word of God. We can’t believe in Jesus and not believe the whole Bible. To stand up for Jesus is also to stand up for His Word and everything He says. Toleration and saying other beliefs are ok isn’t what Jesus did- He exposed them and showed them truth in a spirit of love.
Thanks for listening to me :)
Oh and if you’d like to read about the case for creation vs. evolution and what science and nature tell us about it, answersingenesis.com is a great site!
First of all, I don’t think it makes sense for science and religion to be at war with each other.
There is truth, and then there is fact, and in some way they HAVE to agree with each other. If you can’t see the logic in this you are being unreasonable. The reason I say this is:
No matter how much people say about “there’s no proof, where’s the proof?”, everything in science that has root in factual information can be taken seriously. Science is real. It’s tangible, it’s there, you cannot deny it. And if it contradicts the very essence of what you believe, then who are you? If religion is proven against, what is this world?
The thing is, they CAN coexist. The Bible is not written to be taken literally. Think of how much of the text is symbolistic!
Also, God is so much more than rules, guidelines, words on a page. His works, including creation, were not made to be fully understood!
The reason behind our curiosity in the first place is Eve eating the apple from the tree of knowledge. If our curiousity is really the result of original sin, is it our place to be questioning these things?
Then there is the fact that no matter how much thirst for knowledge the tree instilled in us, God never made us to understand Him. His power is wayyyyy beyond human comprehension. He made us to accept it, to revere it, not to understand it.
I just wanted to say that some of those points are amazing, but I was very badly offended by how you made fun of evolution. Whether we believe in evolution or not does not make us more or less of a Christian, it’s whether we believe God is the creator of heaven and earth or not.
I personally believe that our all-powerful, more-than-amazing God created the universe. That’s all we need to focus on. Let’s not waste our time ridiculing the people who believe in evolution. Do you really think ridiculing them is the best way to win people over?
Please know that this is nothing at all against any of you. I know that you never meant any harm, and you’re still my favorite band. :)
God bless!
Rebecca
Hey, just found your music on Pandora (John Mayer channel is great). Anyways, I know its old, but this post made me want to comment:
Dietrich Bonhoffer once said, “...how wrong it is to use God as a stop-gap for the incompleteness of our knowledge. If in fact the frontiers of knowledge are being pushed further and further back, then God is being pushed back with them, and is therefore continually in retreat. We are to find God in what we know, not in what we don’t know.”
The assumption that just because we have no knowledge about how something happens means that God must have done it has a derogatory phrase to describe it: “God of the gaps”. Just because we don’t understand how something works doesn’t mean its a miracle, you can marvel at the wonder of science and God at the same time, treating the two as mutually exclusive is destructive and generally causes educated people to (understandably) marginalize your point of view.
If your a dork then i’m cool.
Did you also know that researchers also are uncertain as to the source of human BREATH? They think they’ve figured out the origin of our “mini” nervous system: our autorythmic cells of the heart (amazing it and of itself), but they still can’t quite figure out the origin of BREATH. Interesting, eh? Gen. 2:7
Food for thought from a listener. :)
Am with you 100% Jeff. your right about your faith needing to be hung on God, because all the other “stuff” people pou their faith is not good, and your not a dork, and nerdiness is a good thing!
The ‘battle’ between faith and science rages on! It is a battle being fought within me as I try to bridge the gap between my newer acceptance of Jesus as my savior, and my years of education and life experience (not to mention countless hours of Discover and History channels!) Faith defined is believing what you can’t see - or prove. The more I grow as a Christian the deeper my faith becomes. The more science learns, the more we realize how uniquely suited God’s creation is for His children. God bless you all.
The theory of gravity has been explained, it is due to the size of a planet and the size of surface area=pull. The universe has been explained as ever expanding in an oval shape and that on the outside of it there is a red light, red light travels faster see steven hawking writings on this matter. Evolution is continued by a desire for survival to outside conditions i.e. if you have fur in the sahara you less likely to pass on your genes because it will not survive the heat. Why have I commented on this? Because you have given a narrow minded narrative. It is like me reading the bible and using science to say that snakes cant talk, therefore that bit must be wrong. Science and the bible can be used together. They are not opposites but a joyous collaboration on how they are both right, and yes I am a christian. Thanks Dr A. Kennedy
hey you aticle is awesome it’s kind of the truth that people are asking about those ? ‘s. Especially my little brother he ask about where was heavenly father born and everything else. But anyways i just wanted to day is that i cant wait till the concert tomorrow im so excited that i get to see you guys.
Oh no, you are definitely not a dork. If you are…. then I must be one because I agree wiith you 100%
Like someone said on the article,
Some day the scientists will discover that the law that explains everything is simply, “GOD IS.”
It’s about time that science admits that they can’t explain everything scientifically, that sometimes you have to swallow the pill and admit that there is a God, an “intelligent being"as science likes to put it. And that he did create everything you see, including the universe, and yourself.
Yea, Jeff, I agree with you, these guys aren’t all dedicated believers in evolution like they would like for you to think they are. This is partially because their “theory” is still just that - a theory. Evolution hasn’t been proven (never will be) and still has too many holes in it for it to be a life-founding belief. It just makes you wish that these people would find the right thing to believe in, but that’s why you and Tenth Avenue North are here, to rock people to Christ. Keep up the good (GREAT) work!
what is your bands email address? i am trying to send your band a letter but i cant seem to find your address to send the letter to!

Jesus and god are the only way to go to heaven and be in paradise
yay another Dork!!! lol, creation is beautiful, if we think of God as our lover than what an amazing lover is he to give us such beauty to admire. when we do admire creation it fills out hearts with peace that can only be from God. How it baffles scientists shows the incomprehensible God. yet how God chooses to show him self to each of his children in a way that is so unique that it reaches our inmost identity, giving us an understanding of the incomprehensible God, in a way that every heart expresses differently. how God saw it fit to make true foolishness the wisdom of the world and true wisdom the foolishness of the world. This to me is the humor of God to make the poor truly rich, the humble lifted high, everything that this world loves comes to nothing while everything that the world hates is everything. how he uses the ant to teach wisdom and strength, no scientist can explain how the electron stays in orbit, the beauty of God shines through creation but we have yet to see the fullness of this beauty.

if your a dork because you ramble, then i am a dork, i never thought about being a dork before….. LOL
:D
I love science and I think I have been blessed by living in a district where all of the science teachers at my high school have a pretty strong faith. For me I love seeing something that looks so tiny and unimportant like some little enzyme or the properties of water that make it so different than any other liquid and realizing that “wow, my God thought of all of this”, all these details that make this life livable and then he made it so that everything has a place and a purpose. There is no way that this all could have just been a accident.
And that was my ramblings. :)
No your not a dork. Dorks cant play guitar like you do. :) If that is rambling I would like to see more of it! Love y’all! Keep posting videos and pics!
I agree with your thoughts - especially the part about a lot of scientists believing in God - they just don’t know it - YET. We recently watched the “How Great Is Our God” video at church and the most profound part was the basic protein that holds us together - Laminin. The actual shape of the protein is a cross - that which Jesus uses to hold us together with God.
Google it - it’s pretty amazing :)
Colossians 1:17 “He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.”
