What’s up, Tenth Avenue North? I’m Traci, and I live in Bridgeport, CT. You’ve probably heard about the city of Bridgeport, and how it’s filled with drugs, gangs, thugs and all of that(and it is filled wiith all of these!). But I’ve been living here for all 14 years of my life, and thank God, I’m safe. My high school’s no different from the city, except for this certain section-the music corridor. It’s like the only place in the entire school that separates us, the “bad” kids, from what’s going on out there. It’s the place where we put all our emotions into whatever instrument we play or sing. The violin has been my best friend for 5 years, the piano since this summer, and my notebook and pencil from when I was old enough to write. But God, He’s been my bestest friend of all from…from before I was formed!

This is my problem\question: Ever since I got the Holy Ghost, I’ve been told year after year, church service after church service, encounter after encounter with God, that He’s going to use me in a mighty way. But after 4 years of hearing this, it’s like I just don’t believe it anymore. You know? So I guess you could say I’m pretty impatient. And I can be.

Oh, and, um, I was just wondering if You guys can tour in Connecticut? I pray for you guys always, and God bless you all and your families. Thanks for reading this. :D
                                                              Love,
                                                          Traci V Lewis

I wanted to thank you all for such a great concert at Grace Church in Eden Prairie, MN this year. I had bought two tickets for my twin sister and I for an early birthday gift to her. My twin sister suffered a severe head injury when we were in high school in the 9th grade. It has been 27 years since her accident. My sister has suffered from severe bipolar depression since her accident. When she heard the song ” You are More.” at the concert I looked over at her and she was in tears. My sister has attempted to commit suicide a number of times in the past.
When she heard that song and understood the words she felt like she was more than she ever has in so many years it made her feel so good. The only problem is her memory is short and she will forget the words. So, I made sure that she has the cd so that she can listen to it and remind her daily that she is more than the choices that she has made and that she has been remade. I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for such a wonderful concert that I will never foreget. I would like to wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas. God Bless You All.

Mike I hope you all are doing well. I wanted to talk to you about marriage and the younger generations opinion on it. I was having a discussion with my youngest neice on Thanksgiving and we were talking about how she has been with her boyfriend for five moths. Her sister has been dating and living with her boyfriend for five years. My younger neice said that she does not want to get married for a while. She said that she wants to get a home with her boyfriend and a checking account and see how it goes and see how he does. What has happend to the younger generation? Do they not understand marriage and the commitment that they would make with God?
Do they even know or understand the vows they would make to God and to each other to be faithful to each other and love each other in good times and in bad, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do us part? Matthew 19:6 says ” So they are no longer two but one, Therefore, don’t let anyone seperate what God has joined together.” Ephesians 5:33 says ” But every husband must love his wife as he loves himself, and wives should respect their husbands.” I thought that maybe you can reach more young adults than I could. I am very concerned for them. Yes, we all have problems in our relationships in our marriages nothing and no one is perfect. That is why this season we need to Thank God for his ULTIMATE GIFT for giving his one and only son Jesus Christ so that we will be saved. Give thanks to God this Christmas. Merry Christmas to you and your families. God Bless.

Mike I wanted to thank you all for a glorious concert this year at Grace Church in Eden Prairie, MN. I brought my twin sister along that had a severe head injury when we were in high school and has left her with serious depression problems. When we heard the song “You are more”
it really touched her and she was in tears because she has attempted suicide a number of times. The concert touched her heart and meant so much to her that she wanted to exchange her Third Day sweatshirt for a Tenth Avenue North shirt. But, she kept her sweatshirt I had bought for her of Third Day. The questions I have for you are in regards to my neices. My oldest neice posted something on Facebook one day that was very deep. She said “Can anyone tell me why it is so hard to pray, but easy to swear? Why clubs are growing and churches are shrinking? Why it’s hard to re-post a Christian status, but easy to post gossip? Why we can worship a celebrity, but not Jesus? Going to ignore this? The Lord said ” If you deny me in front of your friends, I will deny you in front of my Father.” I’m not ashamed of Jesus.” I am very proud of her. My youngest neice and I got into a discussion about her and her boyfriend. I am concerned for her and the ideas that the younger generation had about relationships and marriage. She said that she has been dating her boyfriend for five months. We were discussing marriage because her sister has been dating and living with her boyfriend for five years and plan on buying a home together and no talks of marriage. But, my youngest neice wants to do the same thing now and get a home and a checking account together and see how it goes. She wants to see how he does when they live together. I was speechless at the time and couldn’t think of the right words to say. But, I ask what ever happend to trusting in them which is one of the most important factors of a marriage. Do the younger generation know what there vows mean to be faithful to there spouse and love them in good times and in bad, in sickness, and in health, to death do us part. Mathew 19:6 So they are no longer two but one, Therfore, don’t let anyone seperate what God has joined together.
Ephesians 6:33 But every husband must love his wife as he loves himself, and wives should respect their husbands. The Apostle Peter urges us not to be fearful [ 1 Peter 3:6 ] but rather to put our confidence in God [ 1 Peter 3:5 ]  When two come together and take there wedding vows they become one they are giving there promise to God to become one and to be faithful to each other in good times and in bad in sickness and in health for richer or poorer until death do us part. Amen. So, my question is why can’t the younger generation of today follow the word of God?They wan’t quick fixes for everything and if something doesn’t go there way they give up and move on. Did God give up on them when they were sick? No, God made them better.
They have to understand that marriage is just like life or a person in general it’s not perfect nothing or no one is perfect there will be good times and there will be bad times. What is your opinion on this matter?
Maybe you can reach more of them than I can since you sing and speak to so many younger adults than I do. God Bless and Merry Christmas you you and all of your families. Thank you God for your ultimate Christmas gift that will last for all eternity. Thank you for sacrificing your one and only son so that we will be made new.

Liked your concert at the Iowa State Fair but felt that an apology for starting late would have been nice.  People were there for a long time waiting.  Also, your comment about Justin Bieber was not a Christian one.  He makes references to God and seems to have a basically moral upbringing and realizes his impact on young fans.  Only God knows his heart but you might want to pray about your motivation for including anything about him or other people that God loves in your concert setting.  We were thrilled at the amount of people your message was able to touch but the bass was too loud to hear most of the words.

    Christianna,
Hey my name is Denise and I was just browsing through this website and your question really stood out to me. I hope you don’t mind if I answer this for you. When Adam and Eve fell, Sin cursed us with a physical death as well as a spiritual death which is seperation from God. When Jesus took our place on the cross, his shed blood on the cross appeased God’s anger, and we became reconciled to God.The sin that seperated us from God has been paid for and when He looks on us He only sees Jesus’s blood.  So are sins are taken away from God’s sight. When Jesus rose up from the dead he defeated death and broke the power of sin over your life. When you recieve him as your personal Lord an Savior, the Holy Spirit comes into your heart and gives you a completely new nature free of sin. Now that doesn’t mean that you never sin because you still have a sinful nature. What that means is the you now have a choice to sin. Your eyes are open and you can know God and understand His word. I hope this was helpful. If it wasn’t could you be a little more specific please I would really like to help you.

    Mike,

Obviously you know a lot about Jesus and I love how insightful you are so i’m going to ask you a question that I hope you can answer the way I need you to. How did Jesus’ death take away our sins?? I know the cookie cutter response because I have asked this question a lot but I want to know the deep down factual way he took away our sins. I really hope you can help me.

    SARA,
I read your comment and that assurance that you’re not the only one who’s felt that way? Yeah. I’ve been there. It just seems like every time you pray it’s not getting through or something. When I was struggling with that my biggest thing came from Psalm 66:18, which says, “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me.” From this verse I began to examine my heart and search the Word to find specific sins I was holding on to, and they weren’t hard to find. Once I truly gave them over to the Lord, though, my relationship with Him felt stronger than ever.

    dear tenth avenue north,
i know that this tour is over and stuff but i saw this discussion and i thought it as good a place as any to say this.

i have always loved God and im sure i always will. my dream would be to work in some kind of minestry and tell everyone the good news. i try to do that now, at school, at home. but something just isnt sitting right with me lately.

lately, when i pray its like im just speaking to open air. its like when i open my mouth the words drop and shatter on the floor like glass. its lke no one’s listening.

but i know that isnt true. because i know God loves me. God loves ME. ME, the sinner. ME the girl who just cant get it together. i know this is probably crazy that im posting this here but i need it somewwhere. i need to know that someone has been where i am and that it will be ok. that i wont always feel like this.

but even as i write this i can feel the pain well up in my gut. life is so hard. and im sick of feeling alone.

even this video brought back pain. the song playing in the background is the song i used to make a tribute video for a girl a grade below me who died last year.

every one of your songs used to hit me hard but now its like they’ve lost meaning. its like i have lost meaning.

its weird but as im writing this the knot of pain in my chest is loosening. i know that i will feel better soon. i know i will. because God loves me. God loves ME. the girl who falls short. ME.

its funny. i doubt that any of you will actually read a word of this. im just sitting im my basement typing a letter that no one will read. its funny. i started this note here so that i could feel someone is listening. but no one will read it. no one but the one who really matters. only the ONE who really matters…

                                  thanks for being there,
                                        Sara Rabbermann

    Hi!!!!
First let me say God bless you guys and that you’ll are a huge inspiration to me. You show that you don’t have to be afraid to love God and be a witness for Him. I don’t have an outstandingly amazing story to tell yall but just that ever since I became a Christian( a year ago) you guys have not ceased to inspire me and provoke me to worship my God. You actually made me want to pick up guitar to play along to your songs( still haven’t conquered that yet :) but my question is: Can you please sing “Hallelujah” when you play at King’s Dominion in July. I heard it for the first time on the tour cd and loved it ever since. You guys are my absolute fav band and I will be there. ( God’s Will)clapping my hands off. Lol.
    God’s Infinite Blessings
    and please keep it coming.

To the band - Went to your show last night in Greensboro.  Incredible!  Just one comment.  Your song “Hold my Heart” is probably one of the most moving and passionate songs that you guys sing.  It was meant to move us and inspire us.  When you jazz it up like you did in Greensboro, the message and seriousness of the song is lost.  Any other song you guys sing can be jazzed up or have its tempo changed but not “Hold my Heart”.  The message and the power of the song was lost at the concert last night.  On your 2010 tour the song was played to perfection.  This year, it was lost.  Please put the song back to how you originally intended it.  It will make a HUGE difference.  Thanks for the great show and the powerful message.  See you next year!  Bless you all for the energy you give to your audience.

Mike, your lyrics are so true and so inspiring. I’ve gotta say, the first time I heard “The Truth is Who You Are” I cried because of its powerful lyrics. It’s also got to be the only song I’ve ever taken the time to sit down and figure out the chords for because I couldn’t find them online anywhere. I lead worship at my church and “You Are More” has touched the lives of so many people in my youth group. I was just wondering where you get the ideas for most of your lyrics? Thanks so much for being willing to follow God’s will!

    Hey,
Did you Know how popular your music is even in Europe? You guys are doing a very good job in with your music. It encourages others when they are down and helps them to get back up. Just one question: I’ve seen a song on YouTube, it’s called the bike song. Do you actually recorded that song? And if you did, where can I get it. Maybe you could actually give me a hint what chords you use;) But it’ll do if I know where to get the song. How about making a tour in Frankfurt, Germany?:)
    God bless you,

    Hi guys! :)

I was at your show last night at St Francis in Fort Wayne, IN.  Killer show!  While there, it came to me that I should share something with you.

I visited Uganda, Africa in Nov & Dec 2010. I was there for 11 days. I volunteer for an organization called Forgotten Children International and the reason for my visit was to see, hear, taste and breathe the people of Uganda so I could further understand the work we do.  And I did these things…but God had other plans in mind for me as well.

The first two nights were the worst. I’m lying there trying to sleep, it was pitch black, no electricity, a rooster crowing ALL NIGHT (what the heck happened to only at sunrise???), half way around the world from my husband, my children, everything I know and all my comfort. I started to feel panic set in, thinking “WHAT HAVE I DONE? Why am I here??” when I heard the quiet whisper “I am here”. I learned what it means to completely depend on HIM and only HIM, because I literally had nothing else and no one else.

But I did have your music.  I have your latest two albums on my phone and I would listen to them as I tried to sleep at night. I don’t know how to accurately articulate to you the way the Lord used your lyrics to speak to me. To comfort me. To change my heart and my attitude. To woo me into falling completely head over heels in LOVE with Jesus Christ.

“Empty My Hands” became my life song in Africa. It is the very plea of my heart. I still whisper the words of that song to Jesus when I am just completely sucked into this world and my self.

This is longer than I expected it to be, I’m sorry…I just want to say thank you. Thank you for being obedient. Mike, you are genuinely Spirit-filled, I saw it first-hand last night. Please, all of you, keep doing what you’re doing. Keep writing, keep singing, keep playing, keep laughing, keep bringing us the heart of Jesus.

    Dear Tenth Avenue North

Greetings from Wellington, New Zealand. Thank you for blessing us and the world with your songs and your love for Jesus.

My name is Sai from Wellington, NZ. We run a teenage girls camp called Purely Girls Camp every year. We walk about purity in a wholistic sense and abortion with all its negative effects.

This is in partnership with Focus on the Family NZ and a group of youth volunteers. As part promoting this year’s camp (last week of April), we are asking for your permission to use the song “You are more” for promotional purposes. This specifically entails the unedited use of the song for a PowerPoint type video clip on YouTube. We propose acknowledging the song as Tenth Avenue North’s.

We are committed Christians and nothing in our promotional video will have any negative impact on you as a group.

mww.focusonthefamily.co.nz contains details about the Purely Girls Camp.

Should you have any queries or if you need more information, please do not hesitate to make contact with me on sai_vea@yahoo.com.

    Blessings

I saw you in Johnstown last night (3/26/11) and you used a “BIG” word that you said meant Jesus put his butt in the way so we would not be punished. I am known for using big words and want to use that one but I can’t remember. Can you please tell me what it was.

Okay, I know you guys get emails like this all the time, but could you please come back to Dallas, PA? My ENTIRE church came to the concert, and we miss you all. My dad and I recently moved further away, but if you could come to Dallas, it would be the perfect reason for us and our friends to drive the hour or so that it’ll take.

Hope you’ll at least consider it,

Hi! I’m a 19 year old high school senior struggling with some tough issues right now and I was wondering if you guys could give me some helpful advice. I’ll try to keep this short and sweet..lol. Ok..I have to make a big decision of what to do after high school gradudation and I have been feeling so much frustration, confusion and sad to say anger against both my parents. My step father wants me to go straight into the military due to my family’s drama. My parents are getting a divorce and my mom hasn’t been around much and when she is things between them make things worse for me and my two younger brothers. So most of my mother’s responsiblity falls on me and I feel bitter against her because its really hard dealing with AP classes and her problems which later emanate to become part of mine. My stepdad has always been there and been very loving but strict. Sometimes I feel like just getting up and leaving and moving to my dad’s house, but I feel obligated to stick around until graduation for my brother’s sake. Sometimes I wish that I could at least go out with friends to like prom or the movies because of all the drama, but my stepdad wont let me and if I ask, he tells me that I am heading down the same road as my mom because both of them are getting a divorce. I’ve been thinking about going to prom since its my last year and have never ever been to any school functions such as football games…etc, but I would be kicked out of my house. I want to go to college, but I want to make the military my career and I plan to be a lawyer. So what would your advice be? Sorry for such a long story.Your songs have helped me through some of the toughest times in my life and I thank you guys for your comforting words that truly relate to me.

    Hey Mike,

I don’t know if you remember me but my wife and I went to PBA while you were there and you and I met a few times when you would lead worship at Christ Fellowship. I recently heard that your band was coming to Hoffman Estates in April and I was wondering who I could talk to to try and get backstage passes. My sister is a BIG fan of the band and it would mean the world to her if she had the opportunity to meet you guys.

Hey guys! I’m excited to be seeing you guys and Third Day in May in Chattanooga, TN!!

Your music is very real and speaks alot to me. But I’ve been dealing with self-hatred for years. It’s something I can’t seem to be freed of. It consumes me and eats me alive. It has only gotten worse over years by the things I’ve went through. There’s a lot more to it that I’d rather not post publicly that makes this issue so so dark. For the past 5 years or so, I’ve spent most of my prayer time praying for others because I felt they needed it more than I did. But now I realize I really, really need prayer. I know that I will never reach my potential in God without the removal of this stronghold on my life. Granted, God has freed me of so many issues of mine that I’ve been able to help others and it’s what has driven me to do jail ministry. THAT is my passion and I know without a doubt my God-given talent. But right now I realize that I really need to work on myself and my relationship with God in order to be a more effective in jail ministry. I’ve only shared in great detail all that this self-hatred entails with one other person and this was only recently. I need some advice guys! Thanks so much!

    Tenth Avenue North:

Hey guys! I have more of a request than a question. My best friend’s birthday is on March 5! (two days.. woohoo!!) Her name is Josie. She brought me to your concert on Halloween in Sioux City—which was AMAZING by the way. I was wondering if you could send me a video of you guys wishing her a happy birthday. She is one of your biggest fans and would absolutely melt if she received a happy birthday from you all! She is such an amazing person and brought me back to the church..brought me back to my faith. She started by showing me your music, actually =). So inspiring. I do not know even know how to express to you how thankful I am. Anyway, if you could do this, that would be an absolute honor! If not, I completely understand! God Bless, Rebekah

Hey guys, I’m sixteen and am helping lead worship and am speaking for a service at my church centered around missions. It is the send off for our three annual missions trips and this I’m going to Costa Rica to work with Youth With A Mission. I recently got the Freedom cd and loved your song, All I Have. I really want to learn it on acoustic guitar for the service. I’ve looked all over the internet for tabs or music but can’t find any and can’t play by year yet. (i’ve only been planning for about 10 months) could you guys email me the chord chart? that would be awesome! Thanks for anything you can do, I love your music and hope you guys can make it further than you already have.

Hey! I don’t know if y’all actually read this, but I couldn’t find anywhere else to communicate with y’all! I’ve been struggling with major depression for about 6 months now. I just wanted to tell y’all that your music truly speaks to me. It’s one of the few Christian bands that I actually really like! I feel as if your songs are written directly to my heart. Just wanted to thank y’all for that. Know that God is using you in powerful ways. Keep doing what you do! love!

My name is is Michaela Norholm.  I am almost 16 years of age (on June 1st I will be) and live in Arroyo Grande, California.  I am a budding artist myself and would like to show you some of my music.  I have been writing songs since i could talk, but have written over 35 (considerably good) songs since i was 12.  That is also when i learned to play the guitar, hence the songwriting!  I also play the piano a little.  Though i have been playing since i was like 5, i don’t actually know how to play very well. But i can read music pretty well and have written sheet/piano music for a movie, for myself (my music), and for other people’s songs!  I am home-schooled and have been since i was in kinder garden and am now in 10th Grade, so i am almost always at home and find it incredibly easy to write music in my room.  I have an acoustic guitar (“Washburn”) that used to be my mom’s when she was in high school and an electric guitar that i got for my 13th birthday.  I use my mom’s old “Washburn” for the composing of most of my songs cause i really like the sound of it.  but i would really like to get a new electric acoustic guitar for my sweet 16th but, i don’t think i will! I am now making a CD to sell/show (they are $10.00) to people like you or Tenth Avenue North to see if you like it!  It will hopefully be finished by the end of march.  And if you would permit me, i would be happy to send it to you!  I must warn you, I don’t have as much experience as, Tenth Avenue North, for example, so the CD is not in any way perfect for a radio or anything.  But at least i have recorded it, and i am happy with it just knowing it is!  I also have a website ... bangarang.webs.com ... Please feel free to check it out and it would be appreciated if you could put a comment on it so i know you’ve been there!
If you can Help or would like to talk to me some more, please email me at ... mln4jesus@yahoo.com ... and i will get back to you ASAP!
                          God Bless,

Okay, so I have a few questions… they aren’t really deep or anything haha or advice I need, just some stuff I’ve been wondering about the band for a while…

But first, let me just say how amazing you guys are. Seriously. All of your lyrics to your songs are so deep and meaningful; conveying a wonderful message to all who hear it.  You guys have some crazy mad writing skills. And your journal entries! Really? Those are the most amazing things I’ve ever read.

You guys seem like a fun group to be around. haha watching all of your videos and everything, yeah you guys would be awesome to hang around. I feel like I know you all very well now, after watching every single possible video. ha to bad you don’t know who I am. My name is McKenzie. Yeah.

    Thanks you guys. :)

    Soooo questions.

When did you all meet your wives? Was that before or after the band? And how did you go about marrying them? Did you date or court? And how is it having a family on the road?

Also, Mike, do you dye your hair? Or is that just natural? Either way, I think it’s awesome. haha

Do any of the other members of the band have any tattoos? If so, what are they of? Mike, your tattoo is amazing. You explained it in such a great way on the posted video, and yeah. You’re awesome. :)

All of your videos are hilarious… man… I liked the one where you all tried to sing My Country Tis of Thee, in the van… wow… that was… wow….

Also, I was laughing for ever when Jeff signed off at the end of his journal entry “I’m a dork.  These are my ramblings.” hahahaha I seriously still crack up at that, whenever I think about it… which seems to be a lot…

Anyway. So there are my questions. :)

Thank you guys so much. You seriously have no idea how much of an impact your music, journal entries, and videos have made on my life. Really. Throughout the day, your song lyrics run over and over again through my mind.

    You guys are awesome.

    Thank you so much.

Look forward to reading and watching and listening to some more of your stuff.

McKenzie, A.K.A. Your biggest fan ever. :) seriously, I am.

Okay, so I have a couple questions. They aren’t crazy deep ones or anything, or advice I need, but just a few questions I’ve been wondering about you guys for a while now.

How did you all meet your wives? What was the timeline there? Like did you meet them before the band had started or what? Also, how did you go about marrying them? Did you date? Or court? Or what?

Mike, just wondering, :) do you like dye your hair or anything? Or is that natural?

You have really made a strong impact on my life. I read all of your blogs (which, by the way, are really well-written) watch all of your videos, and yeah. You guys are truly amazing. Really, you are influencing people with your music and writings, in the right way. You all are definitely glorifying God and honoring Him with what you are doing.

Thank you so much, for everything.

    Hey.
I don’t have a question, it’s more of a thank you than anything. I just wanted to let yal know that you have made a difference in my life. I struggle everyday to stay strong and to overcome the mistakes I have made. I just have so much regret and I feel so disappointed in myself. Back to my point, I heard “You are more” today for the first time, and it touched me in a way I can’t explain. I guess it gives me some kind of hope. But, I would just like to say thank you. Thank you for doing what you do, and for changing my life.

    never stop making music. ever.
i can’t begin to explain how encouraging your songs have been for me. everyday i go through the same struggles, the same temptations, and the same battles. most the time, i do not win. but your lyrics often bring me fresh hope. i struggle with self-harm. it took over my life, and became an obsession. mostly cutting, but i’ve done alot more; burning, bruising, biting, aswel as starving myself, and i’ve even turned to bulimia more times than i’ve cared to admit. its like i can’t let it all go. i end up hurting and heart-broken, and i always feel so alone. but your songs offer me hope and make me feel like i have a second chance, and that i deserve it. so thank you. i often wonder if you have been in a very similar place. i feel as if maybe, just maybe, God can and does love me..

Dear Tenth, I can’t thank you guys enough.

As an aspiring Christian writer, I have this blog about being a Christian in high school. (I haven’t been so good with keeping up with it, but that was my new years resolution!) Today I blogged about things that make you come alive, and you guys were my number one example. When I listen to your music I am drawn back to God. It takes me away from the stresses and the worries of life and just lets me breathe for a minute. For that I cannot thank you enough.  Continue pursuing God- don’t think for a second that you aren’t making an impact. Thank you thank you thank you. If you want to visit, my blog link is yournotsotypicalteenager.blogspot.com (long, I know!)

My question for you is this: I have a friend who has recently started to truly live for God. Ya know, he is finally so passionate for Christ. And it’s awesome. He asked me to pray for him, he said he just all of sudden feels like he could cry, and he’s really confused. I’ve told him to pray for discernment and protection against the enemy. Is there any other advice you have? Thank you. :) -Shelby

Hey Mike, I’ve just got tell you that the song “Healing Begins” really has a special place in my life.  I was always the “good” church going boy, but nobody knew that I had a huge pornography addiction.  This past summer at a youth camp, I got to the point that this addiction had to end.  After years of hiding, I finally told my leader that week and all of a sudden a huge weight was lifted off of my shoulders.  To my surprise I listened to your song the next week and watched the story behind the song and was just in awe of the change God had brought in me. I now fully embrace the fact that I’m a guy that screwed up and continues to do sometimes, but the Creator of this enormous universe still cares about me even though I am completely unworthy. Please keep up the good work because I can completely tell that God is all up in your music!

    Hey there guys!
I really just wanted to take the opportunity to thank you guys for all that you have done. You music really speaks to the soul and is completely God breathed. You’re music has helped me though some tough times, and I’m sure I’m not the only one. One of the many things that I love about you guys is your energy, You don’t portray yourselves as these supposed holly apostles that some people love to act like. You guys are relaxed and just want to do what God is asking you to. Some thing we all struggle with. I myself am a pastor intern and I have gathered a lot of inspiration from your music and journal entries. Thank you again for all the work that you guys put in, it is much appreciated. In other words you guys ROCK SOME SOCKS!

  • Lori Mercer

your song: “TIMES”—it feels like a angel came and told you to write a song of what was needed EXACTLY for me to hear- a song for Lori Mercer, for my heart and mind. For years - many, many years, almost my whole life I have loved God, but thought He has been so angry at me, so disapointed for all the horrible things I have done, and in turn I had been so angry at Him. I felt like a child stuck in the ‘time-out’ chair of life- always questioning, broken, living in pain, fallen from Grace. Always confused- shamed.. EXACTLY your lyrics. I have never cried so many tears over a song.. but it wasn’t just a song.. it was God speaking to me.. telling me He has alwaysed loved me regardless of the mess I have made of my life. Sure, there has been other songs with a similar message, but somehow, these lyrics in your song reached into the depths of my soul and spoke exactly how I felt.. as if I wasn’t the only one who would of felt that way, surely someone else felt that way- or else there wouldn’t be a song about it. SO, then the rest must be true…about HIS LOVE - OVER, UNDERNEATH, INSIDE and IN BETWEEN.. always… so I got off my self-inflicted ‘time-out’ chair and came home- to his faithful love, abundant LOVE. This has been a 30+ year journey.. with many scars and a lot of mending. But I wanted to share with you- if this was the only song you ever did, you made a differnce in MY life- and that alone SAVED my life, it helped bring me back to my Savior. May God Bless you and your family. Thank you ?

    Hi,
I’ll be frank with you, I’m in a really tight spot with my past and how it affects my future. I grew up in a life of sin. Now I’m not talking steal a cookie from the cookie jar and keep it as a secret. I mean extreme sin that isn’t worth forgiving. I used to lie, cheat, cuss, watch and enjoy unholy things, and pretty much anything else that would earn me a one way ticket to eternal torment. However, I’ve given my life to Christ and have made a timeless commitment to follow his word by making it a map of my life. Right now, I am reminded constantly of all the sin I’ve caused in my previous life. Something is telling me that I need to tell my parents and sibling about my past, but I am very fearful of what they’d say and do. When I heard the song ‘You Are More’ I felt that you talking directly to me. What do you say I do?

Mike, last night at the concert in west palm beach they shut the sound off when we asked for an oncore.

You continued anyways playing on acoustic and having us sing along.

I absolutely looved it. but now i cant get the song love is here out of my head.

    Mike…I’m confused.

Can you PLEASE tell me what you mean by:

“We’re not struggling to be free. If we’re in Christ, we’re free to struggle.”

I don’‘t get it and it’s driving my crazy!

I wanted to thank y’all, and Mike in particular for making VA’s day so special last Saturday (11/6) at Liberty University. Hearing your music is always a blessing, and in person even more so, but to get to meet y’all was truly special, and meeting Mike coming in for sound check was simply awesome! The six and a half hour wait was well worth it! I know God will continue to bless many through you and your music!

Wow, What a great concert last night in Woodbridge, Va. Thanks to the email from tenthavenuenorth.com, I had forgotten about the purchase, and even the local christian Radio Station had not mentioned the show. Was so much better than the preformance with Casting Crowns. Although that also was amazing.
So great to see a local boy, give the joy of Christ in such a moving show. My son was happy you said something about we are all the same. Children of God, No one Greater, or Less for we all are Sinners.
To the point, he visited build a bear workshop online. On that site he showed me a video written by two 13 yr olds, Dealing with bullying which seems to be a evergrowing concern.
Anyway, if you have some freetime I think you can youtube the video, Michael& marisha - The same.  The words should hit home for every average person either bullied in school or seeing others bully students. May not be a cristian theme per say; But I sure would like the young people you reach to to hear it , and for you to then go into its not outer beauty, but whats in side that drives us.
I know how hard it is to be away from home and only hope you all can find a christian outlet, together, your minister is clean and in todays world everyone wants it sugar coated. Jesus has given us salvation, but we need to appreciate the giving of our God.
    Done
Bill G, may your words be heard for the meanings they provide, for they are given thru you by God to spread to others that we need to be greatful, and not so worried about making other nations exactly as us for we to are not perfect.

    Hey Guys
Love your music and your message. I would love to take my wife and daughters out to all of your concerts (but I will settle for 1 per year if I have to).
We need to see you either in Southern Ontario (fyi Toronto is the 5th biggest market in N.A.) or worst case scenerio, Western N.Y. (Buffalo area) which is a 90 minute drive. Continue your journey as you really do inspire amazing worship of our Lord and Saviour (note the u in Saviour -hey its the British/Canadian spelling) but in any case, we would love to see you very soon!

I went to the concert two years ago (2008) where you were an opening band for Sanctus Real.  I thought you were better than them at that concert.  I actually won tickets to that concert at the Sevice Station in Spokane, WA.  You were pretty mellow then.  Last night, I went to your concert at Turning Point Open Bible Church in Spokane.  You have really grown musically talented since I saw you last.  Way to go. God Bless your endeavors.  You touched numerous people’s hearts last night, including mine.  God Bless you and keep you, may He make His face to shine upon you and give you peace.  Jesus has His hand upon all of your work.

Hi guys-Thanks for the wonderful Barrington, IL. show on 9/30. We loved worshipping with you on your birthday! My two best friends surprised me with tickets since this past year and a half have been so difficult.
My husband passed away in 2009, leaving our 1 year old and a 3 year old to raise and all the changes that transpire a loss like this.  My husband’s presence is greatly missed and so the pain is great. I have benefitted greatly from your song, “Hold My Heart.” The song reminds me that being one tear in a sea of pain - God sees me - the maker of the stars holds my broken heart and is healing it. God is so big out there, but so small to live in my heart and be close in my suffering. I am compling family books for the girls and one book will include the lyrics to this song to show the girls how present the Lord was in our lives during this time.
God Bless & In Him, Debbie

    Hey, I’m Kiki
i don’t exactly have a question for you guys, rather, a request.
you guys are what brought me and my friend closer together, but we are slowly drifting apart. every time i listen to your music, it reminds me of how far away i am from him, and it hurts my heart. i love your music, don’t get me wrong, but it just brings the pain to the forefront of my mind. i don’t blame you, i actually thank you for giving us something to talk about, even just for a little bit. my request is simple, yet most likely hard for you to complete. i was hoping that you guys could come to hawai’i when your current tour is over. i can wait however long it takes, but seeing as how my friend is a senior and is leaving to college next fall, i don’t have much time left. i don’t know if you’ll ever get a chance to read this, but as i am typing to this, i am listening to “Hold my Heart” my favorite song ever. I submit this with only my faith that God you will allow you to read it only if it is in His will. i will not force my will upon you. i’ve prayed, constantly, hoping that i could find out what is the problem that is pushing it’s way between us, and can only hope for finding a reason to bring us back to friendship terms again. to a point where we can more than rarely talk to each other any more. this isn’t a selfish request, i am actually asking this perhaps on the behalf of all the christian hawai’i residents who all love your music.

May God continue to bless you folks, your tour, and most of all: your music that has touched the lives of many.

I love your song You Are More!  Some friends and I are doing a Women"s Celebrate Recovery class in a prison and played You Are More for them last night. Most of these women are in for drugs or prostitution and feel like they have gone to far for God to love them. That song really ministered to them.  It was right where they are! Thanks for being faithful and allowing Him to write your lyrics.  They speak volumes!

I really don’t have a question, and I am sure your lives are so busy with your tour and keeping in touch with your families…and even if you never read this, others will and maybe it will touch them and encourage them ...Well, here goes…I hardly ever listen to the radio, but one day I was feeling down and depressed, and my two year old was taking a nap, so I decided to turn the radio on while washing dishes, maybe to lift my spirits (I thought to myself)...I am a Christian and in my hometown our Christian Radio Station is 91.5 KLOVE, and so I turned it on and the song “By your side” had just started playing, and I stopped washing dishes and just stood there and while I was listening to this song, I began to cry…Your song moved me…and the Lord used your song to talk to me…I began to think and was pressed to go pray. And during that prayer time I received the mental strength, and spiritual power to face a battle (that most Americans are facing)...lost income and financial burdens…
After that, I told my husband about it and he found out who wrote the song…and so I have listened to your cd, that our local library had and have been encouraged! I guess this letter comes down to this…THANK YOU! Thank you for letting God work through you! By doing that, your song reached me right when I needed it!
Thank you. I pray the Lord keep you safe on our your tour and keep you strong!

Saw you guys tonight in Oklahoma City. Wanted to clarify something that happened tonight. The boo-ing after you introduced Ruben had nothing to do with his hispanic heritage. It was that he was from Texas. Oklahoma and Texas have a long-standing rivalry called the Red River Rivalry that is especially strong during football season. I believe it was meant in fun, not hostility. Thanks for a great show. Look forward to seeing you again!

I WANT TO KNOW HOW TO ACHIEVE JEFF’S HAIRSTYLE!

Mike, Jeff: I love your bangs, but I am extremely in love with Jeff’s Asian hair! Jeff, tell me how you get your hair like that! How should I ask my hair stylist to cut my hair? I already have medium-short length bangs, BUT I FRICKEN LOVE YOUR HAIR.

I absolutely love Tenth Avenue North’s music! I listen to it ALL the time. I especially love Jeff’s guitar playing (YOU SHOULD TEACH ME!!!) and Mike’s super hilarious sense of humor (he taught me how to own a baseball team!) I am deeply inspired by your music and I want to write songs of my own to PRAISE God and really shine his light out. You guys are my heroes. I hope to be able to share the gospel like you guys did when I grow up.

Now, back to Jeff’s hair. I really want the kind of look that Jeff has going on, not to say I’m trying to copy you, I just like your style (COMPLIMENT!) Could you give me some tips on how to cut my hair and how to style it?
YOU KNOW WHAT’D BE EVEN AWESOMER? GUITAR TIPS AND LESSONS!!! YOU SHOULD TEACH YOUR SONGS IN THE VIDEOS!

I’ve said too much. I leave you with this: I love you guys. I love your songs. I love Jason’s flexibility. I love Mike’s jokes. I LOVE JEFF’S HAIR!

    God bless all of you!

P.S. I’m not a crazy super-fan girl marveling over hair. I’m a guy (hahaha). I’m 14 and I’m deeply inspired to play music for God.

    Guys,

Love the new song Healing Begins. The lyrics are so close to the concept and book I love called TRUEFACED: Trust God and Others with Who You Really Are.  If you guys haven’t read that book I highly recommend it.  It is written by some great guys who are pastors at Open Door Fellowship in Scottsdale, AZ.

Thanks for spreading the message of Grace and the Gospel.

My 3 children were the very last in line tonight in Charles City to meet you.  I know how exhausting sitting there and doing that has to be for all of you, and although it was mentioned that it might need to be cut short and divided out a little, each of you met w/ them, made a comment that made enough of an impact that she or he shared it in the van on the way home.  I didn’t think staying up and out was worth it—but you proved me wrong and I am deeply appreciative.  I’m more the, “It’s 9 o’clock, you have a big day tomorrow, we’re leaving said event now” kind of mom.  Thank you for sticking it out.  The words shared from your heart were what impacted me the most.  The whole real world speal about holding your hands up and why hit my 13 yr old right where she needed it in an incredibly uncanny way.  And the best of all, While you are BAR NONE Jordyn’s favorite group, I have a hard time picking between you and Sanctus Real—so having their drummer helping you out tonight was truly a gift that truly made me grin most of the night and at a pretty dark time for us as a family.  My 9 yr old twins fell asleep with your songs playing on their headphones.  How cool is that?!!  So hey, keep on keeping on—it is worthi it!

But i’m glad that u did become a christian band don’t get me wrong…. i love all the great music but i would have to say that my favorite as of right now is All the pretty things because , I was listening to rap and all that crap and i just decided to stop listening to it and to start listening to christian music (it’s sooo much better!) Hey there,
Please help…  I am trying to find the ‘behind the song’ quote for Love is Here…  I found the one on YouTube but I have heard a slightly different version on The Message… Mike mentions about “people wanting God to prove His love to them when they are looking for a parking spot or when their marriage is falling apart… etc”.  The one I found on YouTube does not have this part of the quote.  It has resonating in my mind ever since I first heard it and I really would like to to get a copy of the exact conversation or better yet a video if available…
Thankyou for all you do to serve the King of Kings!

    Hey mike!!
I heard you guys in concert the other day at Six Flags in Dallas, and your song by your side really inspired me to keep going as a christian because im 14 and the only one in my entire family who’s a Christian. I remember getting in fights all the time with my parents about God and Jesus and going to church because they didn’t (and still don’t) want me to be too involved in church, which is kinda hard cause i love my brothers and sisters in Christ. I also remember feeling hopeless and lonely because there was no one to talk to. (or so i thought) I listened to by your side and it helped me remember that Jesus is always there, ALWAYS with us, and really helped me to keep going and to remember that there’s more in this world to do for God.
My question is, (haha i know finally right??), well, i have a deep desire to spread the gospel especially to my parents but i honestly have no clue how to. I’ve tried before but my parents mocked me and rejected me and i dont know what to do. please help, and just thank you for your songs. sometimes they honestly are my lifeline.

    Thanks again :)

I have heard that for your tour you are talking about human trafficking so more people can become aware! I think that is amazing, that is something that is dear to my heart because I know God wants me to work with victims of trafficking.

Also, I was wondering, how would someone get ahold of you guys about possibly playing a concert at their school or something.

    Hey guys,
Wanted to ask you a question about “Hold My Heart”. I listened to your cd and loved it, but the more I listened to “Hold my heart” I became more confused. The song seems to be constantly questioning God and telling Him what He needs to do rather than what a person should be doing to seek God.  example; telling God to turn to me, run to me, begging You to notice me, Wont you come close and hold my heart. and the most interesting one of all, is If you’re everything you say you are. God is and will be forever there if we are willing to open our hearts for Him. I may be so far in left field on this one, but why would there be nothing in here about a person turning to God, and giving their life to God instead of asking or questioning God about everything? I’m not sure if i’ll ever get a response back concerning this, but I had to at least ask.

Thanks & God bless you guys!

Praise God!  I kow you don’t know me but The Lord has given me and many others a wonderful gift that i would like to pass on to you.  I would like to recommend to you to read Destined to Reign by Joseph Prince.  This book is all about Jesus and the covenant that he made with his people.  I promise your eyes will be open to some truths that wil change your life, ministry, and music forever!  This book will help you to answer question that many of your listeners are asking I PROMISE!  Also i love the way your music is a conversation its beautiful keep it up and my husband and i will be at the concert in arlington tx on july 30th!

    Question:
It seems like you’ve struggled with shame, lies, confusion, chaos, darkness, etc.  What is your advice to someone who, in trying to draw close to God, reads his bible and prays, but only feels more condemned, and driven from God?  How do you work through lies that He does not love you, or that you are totally outside of His grace?

    Hey Guys (:

On June 21st I will be attending my churches annual camp.
There’s a talent show that I’ll be performing in, in front of 600 people.
I’d love to play your song, “empty my hands”, it really touched me.
The only problem is that i can’t find the picking chords for the song. Just strumming chords. If you could please send me a tab if possible it would be MUCH appreciated! Thanks so much! I love what you are doing with music and God!
    Love Grace.

Hey guys! I just wanna say you guys and your music are amazing! Recently i took your song “Hold My Heart” and looked up sign language for the words and now i hope to perform it sometime… It was the first every song to complete sign langauge to by myself and i am really truly blessed to have got the chance to do that. By the way your lyrics.. how do you figure out what words to use? They all fit together so good! :)

Tenth Avenue North, Thank so much for your amazing music and lyrics that come with it. You all have been truly blessed. I was watching the videos of two of my favorite songs on your guys new album on Spirit1053, and i really think you guys should do a live sessions or acoustic covers of some of your songs and let loose, because as i was watching you guys do something similar to that on Spirit1053, i could really see the power and feeling in those songs. It was amazing, and would love to see you guys do something like that one day when you get time. Anyways I hope to see you guys on your tour soon, and hey maybe you guys can come visit Oklahoma Christian University, as one of your tour dates, i could definitely help if that would be something you guys would be interested in. God Bless!

    Hey guys,
This is regarding the “new leg” of the tour if you will, with Casting Crowns.  Are you planning on singing any songs from the upcoming album (can’t wait by the way); and do you know if you will have time to do signings (on CD’s, tee shirts, etc) after the shows?

My husband can’t make any of the new leg (with Casting Crowns) shows.  Are you planning anything for fall?

He “happened” upon you guys before Winter Jam.  What amazing lyrics & songs.  It is just awesome how God has given you this talent and used you to reach others.  We are praying for you, and that Jesus will lift you up to continue this.

First of, I just want to say what an inspiration Tenth Avenue North is for me. Your music and lyrics describes what I feel in my heart and you guys capture that ten-fold. I just want to know about each of your testimony stories and THE moment you guys gave up your life for Christ. I’m trying so hard to life my life for Jesus and any inspiring message I can hear would help. I hope to hear you guys’ answers! Good luck on your tour and please, never stop making music.

hey guys. this is kind of a personal one. how do you get to the point you guys are at where you totally and completely feel the presence of God, and hear him speak? I am saved, as of 2 1/2 years ago, but I’m struggling with faith.
also, i like to write songs, and i just wanted to know how you write beautiful songs like “beloved” and “hold my heart” to God and from God’s perspective. I guess that would come with feeling and hearing Him.
If you could answer me, I’d be thrilled to hear from you. Thanks!

I just wanted to thank you guys from the bottom of my heart. I have struggled with self harm for two years now, and never thought that God would forgive me for all the mistakes I have made. Through your music, I rediscovered my relationship with God. I especially connect to the song “Times.” I know that no matter what, God’s love is there through it all. I am just wondering how you guys would deal with depression because I often feel it is a sin to be so caught up in my own feelings that it gets to the point of self harm. How should I approach this? Thank you so much for everything you have done! God bless you all! <3

    Scott, Jasen, Mike, & Jeff,

The day before the WInterJam at PA, I lost my best friend from a rare cancer.  Lately these days I have been really depressed and I can’t seem to overcome my emotions that she’s gone.  But I do understand that she is in better hands, she was always in pain and so weak.  I can’t seem to go a day without thinking about her and crying.  How can I over come this?

God completely consumed me and spoke through me through Hold My Heart. I really appreciate the honest and humble lyrics in all your songs honoring the One who deserves all the glory. Be encouraged because God uses your music and voices to speak to many and what a blessing that is. I pray for strength and boldness for you all as you tour around the US—that God would speak through you and shine His light—

Will you ever make it out to Hawaii to tour? I’d love to hear you guys live.

I listened to you share the story behind “Beloved” when you where in Orlando a few months ago. Would you take the time to post a video with that explanation. The story of how marriages where done back in the day is a beautiful history that should be known by as many as possible. Man to think about what Christ is doing in preparation for his bride makes words not adequate.

Hey Tenth Ave. North: first of all, I just want to thank you for making music that impacts me so much. My favorite song is Hold My Heart, because it is so true about humanity and everything that we go through, that we have to reach for God. I love working and helping, and I someday want to become a missionary. Could you please pray for me, that God could show me what He wants me to do? So many things are confusing and God is the only thing that really isn’t. Missionary work is really important to me but I would love it if you could possibly pray for me. Thanks for making such great music! I love you guys.

So I doubt this will be answered by anyone because time is a precious thing but still I have a little hope that it might be.

I have had the strongest desire for a Christian band to write about the issues of our time and God’s heart concerning them. Particularly do I find this true for domestic violence and divorce. Two of the most shattering things in families today.

My question to you is more of a dare. I ask that you prayerfully consider writing a song about these circumstances and enlightening the breaking of my Father’s heart for all the pain of the churches misconstrued ideas. May God bless you all.

    Mike,
I got to talk to you at the concert in louisville, about the song Times.  I want to thank you again for writing the song, like I said, listening to it was my first step out of depression.  Though I was not ‘clinically depressed,’  I got to a place where I thought God could never love me, and this song reminded me that He does and always will.  I think music is a way for God to show us things when we won’t listen to anything else.  God is using you all to reach people in an amazing way!  Thank you all so much for doing what you do, and for talking with me and sharing your experiences in writing Times!

I just wanted to thank you for one of the songs you wrote.

I have had 3 second trimester miscarriages in the past 2 1/2 years, with the most recent one occuring 4 months ago.  Today as I was driving and listening to the local Christian radio station, “Hold My Heart” came on.  I was a puddle of tears and had to pull the car off the road.  It really spoke to my heart.  We are going through a very difficult time and God has brought us through a whole lot, but I must say, your song really spoke to me as there is still so much hurt, pain and unanswered questions.  Thank you so much.

    In Christ,

    Hey Mike,
I’ve noticed that in interviews you quote scripture that applies… including where in the Bible to find it. That is awesome and I’m kinda jealous. I know John 3:16 and I can tell you the gist of a verse in Micah. But, that’s about it. How do you have such a vast knowledge of the Word and what would you tell someone who wanted to have the ability to quote scripture when appropriate?

I was looking at all the questions people are asking and i was wondering, are yall really going to read and answer all of these questions? I love your band. I went to the concert on the twelfth in S.A. I was so disappointing, Scott wasn’t there! yall had some impostor in his place. What happened to the blue eyed Scott? I had really wanted to see him. Which of yall is married? Mike is hilarious? But personally, I like Jeff’s quiet sense of humor better. Oh, at one point during the concert while Brenton Brown was playing, Mike was standing right behind my dad! I didn’t know if it was proper to go up to him and ask for a picture and autograph. Is it? I hope Mike didn’t see me looking back at him multiple times. Well, I just wanted to tell yall that I loved your new song that yall played about throwing your mirrors down and having God’s reflection. It’s like, quit trying to reflect God, just be the way he made you and you will be more like him and you will reflect him anyways. I loved Mike’s analogy about your mom is just about to spank you and Jesus comes and sticks his rear-end in the way. Mike and Jeff kept me laughing all night long! Is Mike really married? Lucky girl. Also, I love the song, “Hold my heart”.  I am using those verses as my motto. For God to hold my heart until I am of proper age for him to give it away to the right person. I love you guys and pray God’s blessings to rain upon yall the whole tour.

Hi!  I just wanted to say thank you for the song Hole in My Heart.  This week was the first time that I have heard that song and I can’t tell you how much that means to me.  I have been having some female problems through a number of years and despite all that, God has given me 2 beautiful girls.  This past weekend I had expereiced a problem like no other.  Anyway, I am not even 30 years old and I am facing a hysterectomy.  This song has helped me in seeing that God is still there the same place He has always been.  His promises remain even though I don’t have all the answers to my questions.  I could not have said it better"come close and hold my heart”  because it is aching.

    I actually have three questions:
      1) Where did you get the inspiration for the lyrics to the song “Let It Go”?
      2) Could you post clips of your concerts on your site? Just the talking in between the songs is great stuff and I’d love to just hear that. You could seriously be a pastor when your touring days are over.
      3) (for the whole band) What is your favorite inspirational verse in times of need?

Hey guys. Your music has ministered to me so much. I went through a really tough spiritual battle this summer and it seemed like every single song was written for me. Thanks for what you guys do. I would love to play some of your songs. Do you think you might put together a song book?

    Mike,

My husband, son, and I saw your concert last night in Beaumont, TX.  It was awesome!  Every song on your CD is so inspiring and has touch my heart and brought me closer in my relationship with the Lord.  You sang a new song last night about a girl that had fears and wouldn’t accept being forgiven, etc.  That song is Me!!  I know God sent me there just to hear those words.  When can I purchase that song?  I need to replay it again because it spoke directly to me.  Thanks for all your powerful music.
May God continue to bless you and your music.

    Cheryl

I just wanted to know if you guys (TAN) are planning on coming to Canada sometime?

On another note, I can’t help but add my own “thank-you” to this long list above it.
So..Thank-you! “Over and Underneathe” (every single song on it) has radically changed my life around. The lyrics that you all have written and put together have just completely blown me away…it was as if every word had been written specifically for me! This album is exactly what I have desperately needed to hear. I can’t even ....describe in words what listening to your songs has done for my life.
I sincerely hope that God’s plan for your lives includes making more music.

I’ll be praying for you guys =)

Hello friends. I am not writing with a question but with, I hope, encouragement. I have analysed y’all’s every song and I can come to no other decision but that God is speaking directly through y’all, and it means so much. I love every song - they encourage me all the time, especially at work, where there is a lot of spiritual drama (warfare), etc.

The song that speaks most to me is Beloved. I am a strong Christian but have severe self-confidence problems (as ironic as it may sound, but humans aren’t perfect), and that song…wow. There are no words to describe how much it has spoken to me and helped the healing process. I try to listen to it a few times a week but remind myself of the lyrics every day, and it has helped so much.

I cannot thank y’all enough for writing that song. It has done wonders for me and by sharing it with my friends, they have become closer to the Lord as well. Y’all have a ministry with your songs. I will definitely continue to support you. Thank you so much. I love y’all!

    Syd

Just saw your video “hold my heart” on youtube and got inspired!  I would love to play this song at my church here in Bullhead City , AZ but I would first like to ask your permission, it is after all your song, not mine.  Second, I can’t seem to find the chords Mike and Jeff are playing.  I have the basic chord patterns off of the typical tab sites, but I really don’t think this does your song justice.  I would really enjoy playing this song the way it was written.  Can you help?  Thank you in advance for all you do and keep up the hard work.  May God continue to bless all that you put your hand to.

I just wanted to tell you that I loved your performance at the Lifelight festival this past Sunday!  I took my 15 year old daughter and one of the songs really touched her heart.  I just can’t find it.  What is the title of your song talking about a girls sitting in her room?  God has blessed many through your songs and I pray that He continues to do so!  Thanks, Lisa

I just wanted to let you guys know that i adore your music, i think you have a great band.  Your song “By your side” has been the top song on the local station for like 11 weeks in a row.  I never listened to the words until my girlfriend broke up with me after ten awesome months.  Then the next day I got into my truck and the radio station was playing the song “By your Side” and thats when i could feel God talking to me through your band.  Thank you so much for reminding me of how Awesome God is.  Keep up all the good work.  By the way the music video for “Love is Here” i have always wanted to do that (Praise God on a rooftop) I have tried to figure out how to play it on guitar but i can’t seem to get it right.  Well thanks for listening and God bless.

I’m hoping that my comment doesn’t get lost among the throngs of others! My husband and son were killed in a plane crash this year and I’m starting to come out of the fog and the haze. Your song “Hold My Heart” says exactly the way I feel and plead with God. I’m on my knees every day asking the maker of the stars to hear the sound of my breaking heart! Your song rips my guts out but my guts are already ripped out! Thanks for the song and Blessings to you all on your tour. Debi

I was at the performance this past Friday at Harvest in Lake Zurich and knew during that night that the Lord most definitely led me to the right church.  I had been away from church while I went through a long, difficult divorce.  I did meet you at the table afterwards to let you know that I went to sleep to “By Your Side” and it has gotten me through some pretty down moments.  I was again blessed by your compassion and gratitude for letting you know how your music has blessed me so much….NOw that I am on the other side and start a new journey of my life, so many other songs on your CD are also speaking to me, expecially “Beloved”.  I know that Christ is my spouse who will never leave me.  Thanks for the amazing lyrics that have been Christ’s expression of love.  Many blessings to you on this tour and I look forward to seeing you again.  I will use your music to help others who I see needing the love of Jesus to help them get through life’s struggles.  Peace be with you.

    Mike,
    I recently considered suicide.
I didn’t want to kill myself,
but I often feel like I’m not
good enough for God, or even for my friends and family. I wish that I could feel good about myself. I am too scared to ask my parents for advice. I love God, and know that suicide is not the way to go. But I have trouble resisting the urge to do so. I just hate myself. How do I know that God loves me, and has a purpose for me?
-I hope there’s an answer to my question, because I really need to know that God loves me, too.
    Thanks,
    I loved your concert Friday

To th guys of Tenth Avenue North,
I’m not sure if this is the type of question you’re expecting people to ask, and I hope it’s one that you can answer, but if not it’s okay.
I was wondering, how can God give us the freedom to believe in and follow Him or not when he fully knows that most people will choose not to and will go to hell? And, seeing as he is all knowing, how can he create people that he knows won’t go to heaven?
I hope no one thinks I’m questioning God’s authority, because I definitely don’t. I just have a lot of questions, and I figured you guys might have some good answers.

    Thanks,

I’d like to thank you for making the Over and Underneath album and for writing music that speaks loudly to me during a very difficult period in my life.  I don’t know much about the writing of this album.  What I do know is that God speaks to me directly through every single song.  Six months ago, a week after celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary, my husband died suddenly of a heart attack.  He was 43.  We had no reason to believe he was not well, so this really rocked my entire world.  We have 5 beautiful, precious children who are now without their father who was a wonderful dad and husband, and I am now a single mother.  There really aren’t words to express how difficult adjusting to this loss is.  A couple of weeks after Greg passed away, my daughter gave me your CD that a friend had given to her.  She said she thought I might like it.  I don’t know if you had a young widow in mind when these songs were written, but I would challenge anyone to listen to them from that perspective.  I’m glad lots of other people enjoy and are learning from this music, but it sure seems like God prompted these songs to be written so that he could use them to minister to me in my very darkest hours.  God had already cultivated in me a firm belief in the truth of scripture and God’s goodness.  But the loss of someone so precious to me shakes everything I stand on.  The words to this music are ones that I need to be reminded of over and over.  It helps me to focus on the unchanging faithfulness of God to me in the midst of excruciating changes in my circumstances.  I keep purchasing copies of your CD to pass along to friends that I think will also be encouraged by your words.  Thank you for listening to the spirit’s leading as you put this album together that is so much more than even the words and notes and sounds that comprise it.

Hey guys I just wanted to tell you that I have been searching and searching for somebody whose songs were explicitly Christian and on target theologically and guess what!!!!!!!
I heard love is here and by your side on the radio and loved the songs, looked you up, and was shocked by the journal entry that began with “the disciples must have thought Jesus was crazy” !!!!! Most bands do not take the time to think and write out something like that for their fans!!!! So after reading that I promptly bought your cd and then I found a bonus version with lovesick so I paid for that whole cd again just to get that song !!!!!
So now I’ve got all my friends listening and we are begging you to please do a concert in central Florida !!!!!! I can get at least 50 people to come that I know personally!!!!!!
Why not try for night of joy or rock the universe????? So thanx for reading this ridiculously long post and know that people are praying for God to use you in a mighty way!!!!!!!

    Hey!
Like everyone else says, y’all are amazing! But about the question, I really want to be a life long international missionary. I am in college now and really trying to figure out exactly what God is calling me to do. I have many opprotunities to go here or there, even for long term, but how do I know whether it is the right place/time to go? Also, knowing that man plans his steps but the Lord directs your path, should I be planning details of future opprotunities and telling people “this is what I want to do” before I know where God wants me? I hope that makes sense!

ps* My friend and I won the Red “rock and worship road show” t-shirt contest and got to meet yall and stuff - definitely the highlight of my year and that shirt is hanging up in my room!!

Thanks for all the awesome music!

    Mike,
First off, i just wanted to say that i think it’s really cool of y’all to take time out to answer question so thanks for that! I met my saviour this past april. The life i left behind at the cross was a horrible one. Cutting, depression, anorexia, and an endless string of short shallow overly physical relationships. I was so happy when God found me. I was such a different person…but now i find that i feel that way again, like God doesn’t love me, like i need what i used to have. Lately i find myself going back to that life. i wanna believe he’s there but i can’t as hard as i try. How come i lost all the connection i had with God? Where did my faith go?

When are you coming to CA? We need you to come. Klove is where I heard you for the first time. The song was “By Your Side”. I will never forget how it hit my heart and how hard I cried. I bought the cd, and since that day, the Lord keeps on showing me who needs to be encouraged by your music. So, I go back to V & B Christian Bookstore and buy more TAN cds!! I am singing for a wedding in Portugal on Nov. 6. The bride and groom would like me to sing “Beloved”. How can I get a cd accompaniment trax? Thank you for using your gifts to minister to the lost and to the body of Christ! With love and many prayers, Pat :o)

    Mike,
I’m having some trouble connecting with God. I’ve accepted him into my life several times, but I dont think I’ve had that defining moment in my life that everyone talks about when they are suddenly overwhelmed with Christ and their world changes forever. I feel like I’ve had ‘mini-moments’, but I’m craving that sudden moment when Christ is all I am & he becomes my everything, ya know? I want that moment so bad but I feel like I’ve tried every way possible. Do you have any advice about how I can deal with the situation? I’m striving so hard to have that connection and I feel like I always get soclose, but not close enough. I can’t wait to see you guys on Thursday! Mayb I’ll even have that defining moment there :)
    Love your sister in Christ,
    Kelly
PS- Thank you for your music. I really don’t know where I would be without you guys. I’ve never been so touched by music & I owe it all to you and your love for Him. God Bless!

I have been struggling with pride all my life, but it has become so evident in the way I interact with others these past few weeks.  Have you ever struggled with pride?  And, if so, how has God changed your hearts so that He receives the glory due to His name through your lives and your music?

The first time that I heard “By Your Side,” the Holy Spirit answered me.  Did you know that the song that you wrote was an answer from Jesus to so many hurting of HIS OWN?  We were getting a little weary.  Where were you and what were you doing when the Holy Spirit came upon you with that song?  And did you KNOW that Leona Lewis wrote a song back to Jesus, answering this song?  [“Bleeding Love.”]
Those who adore HIM understand that ‘one single part that says:’  “am I not enough.”  This song changed my heart to “Yes, Lord, You are enough, but my heart is bleeding in love, because I have had to endure the pain and suffering.”

Did you know that HE spoke thro’ you?

    Hello!

I just want to ask what you guys do before you write your songs. I can’t remember the first time I heard your music, but I did know that I really should buy your CD. All of your songs especially Times, are right answers from heaven to me, so I really want to thank you for that :) Keep on going the good work!

And another little question: Can you ever come to Holland some time? I would really really really love that!

Hi! I discovered your band through Pandora.com and immediately bought your CD. A couple of months later I had to go to a small town in New Mexico because my mom was dying. During the week that I was there, I played your CD in my car between the motel and the hospital. God used the music and lyrics of your songs to keep me strong through the whole ordeal as I had my grown sons with me and I wanted to be strong for my mom. As it happened, she didn’t die until after we left to come back to San Diego but I thank you for the encouraging words in your lyrics, especially “By Your Side.” Do you plan on ever having a concert on the West coast, specifically San Diego. I very much admire your commitment to Jesus as young men with so much pull from the world to try and get you.

I just luv u guys!! Hold My Heart and By Your Side really helped me through some tough times and I’m going through struggles now. My friends are acting impure and preverted, even one who is supposed to be a Christian. How do I confront them and tell them what they are saying is wrong?

    Hey!
I became a huge fan of you guys after hearing you play in Fort Collins, CO in 2007 for the Student Venture Getaway. I just wanted to thank you for what you do. God has really blessed me this past year through your lyrics. I was having a hard time feeling and understanding His love. Whenever I would get lonely or depressed I would just listen to your Over and Underneath CD. It helped me realize that God’s love never fails. God has truly transformed my life through your music. I can’t begin to thank you enough.

I am planning on coming to your concert in New Jersey and will hopefully see you there. :)

I want u2 know that my first impression of ur music and lyrics was that u received it from the Lord.  I have had moments when I’m thinking or writing when it is an aha moment knowing it is directly from God.  I think ur music compositely is that way.  It is undoubtedly inspired by Christ.

Over and Underneath is just an amazing picture of God and ways to worship him.

You touched deep parts of my soul with “Beloved”.  I can relate 2 the mournful wail of “Hold My Heart” as I have struggled with a life-long addiction to alcohol.

I want 2 tell everyone with this problem not 2 give up on themselves no matter what.  Pray 4 discernment 4 the right group of Christian friends to support ur quest to stop whatever ur addiction is.  Look 4 a Celebrate Recovery group to join and be in fellowship in a SAFE ENVIRONMENT of people you can trust with ur thoughts and needs.
KEEP GOING no matter what.  I did not stop drinking until after I had been going 4 almost 2 years, and I can truly say it was not me, but Christ who took away the desire 2 drink long enough 2 fight it and become sober.

Tenth Avenue, I come from the generation that loves the kind of music u play and the energy u brilliantly expend on stage.  I am trying 2 get 2 the Carrollton concert Sept. 11.  I will b the 54 year old mom singing every word 2 every song u sing as close to the front row as I can get!!!  Needless 2 say, u guys ROCK!!!!!!!

I have gone through a lot in the past two years. I have had many problems with my dad and step-mother, I have lost loved ones sudenly, and I have had a hard time in school.
Latly my faith has been walking on broken glass. I am having trouble seeing God here with me. Way to many nights I have have cried myself to sleep. I feel very alone. I go to chruch and I listen to your music on a daily bases. (Thank you so much for the music. I dont think I could go a day without it)  All I want is to feel God wrap his arm around me and tell me everything is going to be ok. I know that Im going to get that and It has been making me feel even more alone. I dont now where to go or what to do. Im feel like im running and running and geting nowhere.
If you have any advice please give it.

    Gods blessings to you all

first off, i think this is awesome what you’re doing, so thank you for following through in God’s plan.

second, how do you truly forgive someone? this one guy really hurt me over the summer and i thought i forgave him, but once school came around i found out quickly that i did not. how do you truly forgive someone; i.e. not ignore him when i see him and not fight, not even have temptation to be mean back? how do i let it all go?

thanks for reading this, and keep spreading God’s Holy Word! see you september 16th!!!! :)

2:I have been working on times on the acoustic…I’m planning to play it at church and at school…I basically have the main pattern of the song down, but I was wondering how you play the chorus and how you play the bridge?  I’m trying to keep it very simple and relaxing…It’s an amazing song!

Hi Mike, Jeff, Jason, Scott, & Families! ;)
As many others already have, I want to take the opportunity to thank you for sharing your talents for the glory of our great God! And my question is for all of you: As you travel, how do you stay connected to Him? Beyond personal devotions and prayer, do you attend local churches as you travel, travel with a chaplain of any sort, or listen to sermons on the road? Thanks again, and know that you are in the prayers of many. May your hearts and minds continue to be filled with the love of Christ!

Just wanted you to know your song “By Your Side” helped my sister in her last moments of her life. I lost my sister to ovarian cancer this summer, after only 5 weeks of finding out she even had it. She was so young and still had so much she wanted to do in her life, she was not ready to go and fought with all her might. But when I would place my IPod headphones on her ears and play your song for her, she would calm down and just soak up the words, she loved it! She gave her life to the Lord and accepted his forgiveness! and I KNOW that I WILL see her again! :) I thank God for giving you the words and for all your talent… thank you for all you do!  God Bless!

    Mike,
First I just want to comment that Tenth Avenue North was a name I didn’t recognize until I went to the concert with MercyMe, Jeremy Camp, and you guys. I am so glad I know it now because I couldn’t go a day without your music.
My question is: How in the world do you remain sane in a world that is screaming at you to be the opposite of what you are?
I slip and fall and let down God so many times, and that’s why forgiveness is so amazing. But, as a young teenage girl, society pushes me to be someone I’m not so many times.
You’re lyrics are beautiful, keep on rockin’ it. :)

    Hello!

    I have 3 questions:

    1. I am a very quiet person, I don’t have a lot of friends at school. I am the only christian in my class, and none of my classmates talks to me… Do you have a suggestion what I can do to get to know people?

    2. When somebody asks me about Jesus and stuff like that, I don’t know what to say, it’s like everything just leave my mind…. How can I know what to say?

    3. My parents don’t like rock music. My father said that he doesn’t understand why Christian people use rock (rebel music?) to announce Christ. They just like old church songs with slow melodies, no drums and guitars… What can I say to make him understand that the lyrics in christian rock music can be as good as the old “classics”?

Sorry for the grammar mistakes, I’m not from America :P
Did I hear anything about a new CD? And is it possible to order your t-shirts in Europe?

Why do you think it is so arduous for Christians in America including myself to grasp the concept found in Gal. 2:20 and throughout the New Testament: namely “That it is not I who live now as a Christian but rather Christ” or as my Old Testament History teacher puts it “Thriving (in what we have…nay what we ARE) not Striving (to try to earn grace/love/acceptance/etc).”

    Tenth Avenue North,
First of all, i wanted to let you guys know how much your music has helped bring me closer to Christ and fuel my passion for Him. I really connect through music, and find it as a tool to celebrate, cry, praise, understand, and comfort. I have found all of these things in your music, and more than once it has helped me through a tough time in my life witht he love of Christ. Thank you so much.
My question for you relates to a knew song you’ve recently done. I do not know the name of it, but you played it at the Joyful Noise Family Festival in Minnesota this past June. It was about a girl, and how she isn’t her mistakes, and she’s not the choices she’s made. I was given the opportunity to speak with the band, and I specifically talked with Mike about this song, because it actually made me cry becuse it really touched my heart and spoke to me personally.
So, my question is, what is the name of that song? And when will the album it is on be coming out? I would LOVE to own that song, and i see it as sort-of a theme song of my life right now.
Thank you for reading this, for your music, and for spreading the love of God!
    You all are amazing.

    Tenth Ave,
First, I really appreciate your music. God has spoken to me several times through the songs He had you write. You all have been a great blessing to me and countless others, I’m sure.

Second, I would like to ask all of you to pray for some friends of mine. They’re like family to us and they just lost their dad. God took him home just this last week and it was a big shock to everyone. He is survived by his wife and two children- Jonathan age 19 and Allison age 16.
There’s only so much that we can do to help minister to them. Please pray that God continues to make Himeself evident in their lives. Uncle Paul was a great spiritual leader, but I still worry they may have cause to doubt the Lord and His sovereignty.

Thanks again for being useful to the cause of Christ! I’ll be praying for you and the tour!

Hey guys! Just wanted to say that God did some amazing things tonight at the concert in Harrison! I really enjoyed getting to hang out with you guys and sitting down for dinner together.

Personal Shout Outs To You Guys

Mike- Like I said earlier, awesome bag! The North Face is quite marvelous. Oh, and great choice with Toms, too!

Scott- I’m glad they left your Naked Juice for you and didn’t sneak it off and drink it… Robyn and I are going to try it now because of you all.

Jeff- About that top bunk thing… You all get on the most random topics. It was great to hang out with you guys… When you come back you will have to goof off with the free weights again.

Jason- You totally rocked it tonight with the trumpet and the drums at the same time. It was a sight to be seen. There were several of us who just stared, quite awkwardly I might add.

But anyway… Thank you guys so much for everything that you did tonight. I greatly enjoyed working with you guys and hope to repeat the process in the future.

Mike, I have a band called B9 Fate.  I am a Christian singer/songwriter and sang solo for about 3 years and we just started as a band last fall.  My question is, what are your thoughts on signing with a label vs. indie?  What are the positives for signing with a label?  I know they have the distribution network, but they also seem to keep a lot of the money, too.  Is it really worth it?

Actually, I just wanted to let you know that we love your songs here in Wilmington, NC, and my daughter who dances at a Christian Performing Arts Studio called Glory Academy of Fine Arts will be dancing to your song, “By Your Side” this fall as they do ministry outreaches at various festivals and locales in our area. Isn’t it amazing how the Lord can use our gifts??  Bless you all!

Hey guys, so I have many friends who arent christian and ive been trying to love them just like Jesus does and to reflect his light on them, but lately I’ve been noticing that Im gradually being pulled away from God by my friends. I can’t decide if I should keep trying to be a good influence to them now, or if I should distance myself from them more so I don’t fall into peer pressure.

    Thanks for listening,
    Rachel from Portland OR.

When are you guys coming back to Riverside California?

I also wanted to know if you guys could give me some advise… My friend and I had started a young adults group at church, but no one would show up…. I has been month since we had a meeting because it’s just the 2 of us. We envite the youth and young people from different churches but they don’t want to come. What could we do besides pray and wait on God? I go to a spanish chuch and I have the feeling that they think this is a different culture thing… It makes me feel sad because I don’t understand what’s so wong about reading the word and praying with people in my age group. Please pray for us and let me know what could be done. Thank you and God Bless…

Hi Mike and Tenth Avenue North!
First off, I just wanted to thank you for stopping by this summer and playing at Ignite Chicago.  That was the first time I hear you live and I absolutely loved worshipping with you!  I have one question…your song Beloved (my favorite) speaks so clearly to me.  I just wondered what inspired you to create the lyrics?  Was there a certain person or situation that led to the message?  Anyway, thanks again for your ministry!  I hope to see you again soon!

    Hey my brothers in Christ!
Thank you for being obedient to God’s calling in your lives. I know it isn’t all glamorous.
My question is how do you keep it real day after day after day in concerts back to back?  Do you always feel the Holy Spirit moving within or do you have to just put it out there from repetition? I am a singer and I always wonder if you are blessed with the Spirit each time you go on that stage.
Also, you performed a great service at Atlantafest and I loved the new song that you did and look forward to buying it, but can’t remember the name! It was about being more than your past mistakes and AMEN and thank you for that one too!
Many blessings on you all and know that what you are doing is changing lives daily!
    I pray for you,
    Tami

Hi Guys! first I just want to say that ya’ll are my favorite band! I would so love to meet ya’ll and i am going to find out if I can make it to your Columbia concert! You have been an inspiration to me and my friends. I just want to thank you all for writing your songs. I was just wondering…what has it been like to see God use your songs and to hear stories from people on your page? Keep up the great work:)

    Hey!

I’ve been wondering if you think church denominations are a good thing? It seems as if people discriminate the “other church” a lot or completely ignore them. I think it is good for churches in a community to come together and do missions and stuff, but why do we have denominations in the first place? Did the first church have different denominations?

By the way, I LOVE your songs! “Hold My Heart” helped me through a really tough time when my youth pastor (and one of my best friends) left. I really appreciate your music and the genuine feelings in the lyrics!

I love your music and your expression of faith.  It is always such a blessing for me to see young, talented people using their gifts to serve and honor our Lord.  Thank you for what you do.

Now my question… Our church small group is going to be serving meals and ministering to some of the homeless in Panama City on the evening of your concert in Panama City.  (27 Aug)  Our Church does this on a frequent and regular basis, but this is the first time our small group has participated.  We will be setting up at 5:30PM, less than a block from the theater where you will be performing your concert.  I would like to ask if you would be able and willing to stop by and participate in the short worship time before our devotional and meal?  (Approximately 6:00PM - 6:15)  And, if you have time, also stay and eat and help serve and minister.  We have someone scheduled to be there with a guitar and sing, but it would be a great honor (and surprise) for you to join her for our short, informal worship time.

If this is something you think you might be able to do, please email me or respond.  If not, I certainly understand.  We just thought that it would be a wonderful blessing for all if you had the time and were able to join us.

Either way, we still love your music and the work that you do for the Lord.

    Thanks and God Bless,

    Troy

    Hey Tenth Ave,

My question for you guys is I was wondering if there was any way I could get any chord charts/sheet music for your songs. There are some out there on the internet, but I’m not sure they’re always correct. The reason why is because I lead the youth worship band at my church and I would LOVE to do some of your songs with my youth group. I have a CCLI account and was disappointed to see that they weren’t on there.

    Thanks so much!

    -Michelle

ps, I saw you guys at Ignite Chicago and you did an amazing job! I loved how it was like a worship service/concert combined. The stuff you said was right on with how I sometimes feel…I’m a “church kid” too…

    Dear Mike,

Just about a few months ago i realized that i had been livimg my life as a hypocrit . i wouls sing the songs on Wednesday nights and i would say the prayers but i never actually went along with what i was saying outside of church. But after attending an amazing youth retreat called GOLDRUSH i was knocked into my senses realizing that my prince, my GOD had saved me from my tower. and i am building my self esteem up day after day. I yearn to share Gods love with others but i just dont know how exactly to bring up the subject in conversation at school or just anywhere, do you know of any good starters? Another question i have is what would be the best way to ward off satan from trying to turn my heart away from God? Thanks so much and if anyone else has ideas feel free to comment :) ! Your music is such a gift I cherish it in my heart.

    Thanks so much!

@Karlea Green—You are so special! God has made you for a specific reason. Even when it feels like it’s the worst, He is carrying you. Please don’t lose hope. I can say with full certainty that God has great things planned for you. Sometimes He lets us go through trials in order to teach us and purify us like the furnace melts away the junk so just the gold is left. When you need to talk you can always drop me a line-

I know things can be tough but remember all the hardships and pain that Jesus went through just because He loves us. A great book to read (also for Ashley Bankston) would be the Purpose driven Life by Rick Warren it can take you on a personal journey to know God better, but when all else fails the Bible is the best book I know.

    Hola Amigos !
Do you think that there is only one church that God made for it to be the church or religion that everyone should be going to? Like Catholic Churhc is the first churhc that God created to be “universal”? Then why are there so many religions and different churches? WHY cant we just have One religion where everyone shares the same beliefs the same ideals and knows that God is Our Saviour?

Sometimes i just get soo ahead of myself thinking those things that i wish God would return soon so those that are meant to be with the Lord our Saviour can become one united family . Hope you understand the question! Hope to hear from you soon!

    Dios me lo Bendigue!

    Hi Guys,
This is for all 3 groups-
I have studied music mu whole life, even have a degree in classical voice, but surviving as a musicain was so difficult that 2 years ago when I hit 30 I decided to try a regular full time job. I am good at what I do but it’s proving to be difficult to move up the ranks to a position that is worthy of a college grad. I miss my music, though the silver lining is that I get to do worship team and special music at my church and may soon be directing the performing arts program. Yet i still yearn to make my living through music. When I was younger I could handle living off of ramen noodles and iced tea but I’m getting married in 3 weeks and I have to think about supporting my wife and our future family. That said, My main question can apply to many of us..How can we search to find the will of God in our lives? For my personal situation how do i know God’s will for me to stay in my job, or go back and give music another try or even something else?

@Carol- I agree “by your side” is such a great song for so many situations. My heart breaks for you and be sure my fiancee and I will intercess on your behalf. Stay strong and know that He is always with you.

@Rachel- Some people would like you to think they have it all figured out but that is just a sign of their insecurity. How can the Human body be so intricate, complex, and balanced without a grand designer? Ask him to look into Astrophysics, astronomy, and cosmology. It is impossible to see the order of things in the universe and how great in size and structure and also how the smallest things have significance and yet not see the hand of God. It saddens me that for some people, this is their heaven. I’ll pray for him.

Hey, this question is for the whole band. I was just wondering if you remembered my sister and her friend(s)? You don’t know me but you hung out and ate lunch with them for a week at Rocky Mountain Getaway I believe it was called. We were at your free concert in Colorado, thats where we live obviously, and they didn’t want to get in line but they were wondering if you remembered them. Their names are Amanda Bailey and LIndsey Wilkens. They always tell people they discovered you. LOL Thanks!

It was very disappointing again to see another Christian group only touring in the southern states.  We get lots of large secular acts, but the Christian groups tend to stay away from the northern states, where your testimonies need to be heard the most.  Can you please find it in your busy schedules to make a trip to the Rochester, NY area?

By Your Side is absolutely the best song I have ever heard (and that’s saying a lot because I am a HUGE Bon Jovi fan). I try to sing along but always get choked up. I especially like the line, “Why are you still searching as if I’m not enough?”

Where do you get your inspiration for your songs? As a book writer, I feel that I am sometimes merely the hand putting God’s words down on paper. Before I know it, something is written and I know I didn’t write it, at least, there was no conscious effort on my part. Do you ever experience this when writing your songs? (If you didn’t write it, who did?)

    Hey Mike,

There’s been a lot going on in my life; hardships, etc. I’ve had problems the past 6 years of my lfie, and whenever I ask my youth leaders when will it get better, they always say the answer, “Keep going.”

It’s been hard, but I’ve kept my faith through the years. My question is, do you believe that God sometimes really lets us go through these hardships in life to help us get closer to Him?

    Dear Mike,

The past several years of my life have been really hard. There have been several tragedies taking my home, my family’s closeness, and most importantly, my brother. Jesus said time and time again that life as a Christian would be hard. I knew that, accepted it, and was waiting for it. I just never thought it would be this hard. To help myself deal with pain, I made some bad choices. That was in the past, but it haunts me still. I’m never going to give up on faith, I love my God more than anything, but why is he not stepping in and helping me now? I’m trying to be patient, I’m trying to trust. But it’s so hard to feel this way.
Do you have any encouragement? Prayers are always nice to….
    thanks.

Hi guys. I am a christian and im about to be a junior in high school and its gotten so ridiculous when it comes to friends, drama, guys and things like that, that I made the decision to switch schools. That had to be the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make and I’m only 15. I have everything at my old school that I worked so hard for but I just cant go back because I know it wouldnt help me at alll. We’re also moving to the other side of town too so I guess you can say that i am veryy overwhelmed right now. I know that this change is for the good and that once we r moved into our new house and we start over, everything will be like new. But the thing is, im really scared about these next years while im finising high school. I feel like im being torn in two directions. I know that satan wants me for his own and hes doing everything he can to tear me away from everything that I know and my relationship with the Lord. I also feel like im trying to the best I can to nurture my relationship with god. Its just gotten soooooo hard these couple years. I cant even be myself when im in school and I know that its just hurting me. I dont want to lose what I have with the Lord. Thats why I love your songs because they’re like a cry out to Jesus. So many times I find myself on my knees begging for strength and help. “How long ‘til I see Your face, see You shining through? I’m on my knees, begging You to notice me. I’m on my knees, Father will You turn to me? One tear in the driving rain, One voice in a sea of pain, Could the maker of the stars, Hear the sound of my breaking heart? One life, that’s all I am, Right now I can barely stand.” I just dont know how Im going to make it.
This is just something I thought you guys should check out if you have the time—> Im making these videos and posting them to youtube; just type in NoRecord1C135 and you’ll find my channel with the videos. I know how hard it is being my age so I made these videos for everyone else who can relate. If you could write back, that would be awesome. Thanks so much and God Bless:)

How do you deal with the loss of someone close to you? My dad passed away March 2008 and God has been taking me through journeys of healings but i’m still learning how to deal with it. After a year you would think the pain would go away but since he was a part of me it feels like life has never been the same. People constantly remind me that he is in a better place which i know but how do you deal with the fact that he’s not here.

i guess my question is have you ever lost anyone close to you? and how did you deal with it? Is it something that goes away after time or is it just something you have to trust God with??

Also I would like to say God has used you all in such a powerful way to reach out to me to remind me of his faithful love i’ve seen you twice in concert and each time God did something amazing in my life. I would love to see you guys again God uses you so powerfully keep on shining for Christ.

How do you stay excited about God? There are events I got to at my youth group that really get me pumped up, and excited about God. But after its over, I go back to my same old habits. As much as I need my quiet times with God, I can’t seem to get excited about God. I want to be, “High On God” all the time, and continually growing in spiritual maturity.

I love your album. Every single song. I bought it for “By Your Side” but Beloved quickly became my favorite and my youth group did a drama to it followed by “Times”. It was an amazing drama and definitely God-sent.

    Hey!

You guys are incredible, and a great inspiration to me and my music. I started writing music this year, and I’ve been playing guitar for three and a half. And I would absolutely LOVE to know or get any tips on how to write lyrics and put it with music… like how to combine the two and actually like the way it mixes and sounds… like your music. I understand that words come from the heart and the Lord, but if you had any tips it ‘would’ be appreciated…
My goal is to record a CD sometime, if it’s possible. Need songs first… songs of my own given from God. And I’m working on a bunch that God has given me, but time and life gets in the way and I just can’t seem to put songs together.

God really really REALLY bless you guys TONS!
PS… You guys really gotta come to Barrie, Ontario! Or Toronto… somewhere close to Orillia. I don’t know if you have ever come to Ontario? We need a revival! Big time…

PS2… My fam is a “family band” (since there are 16 of us, lol) and I play and sing ‘By Your Side’ in concert with my mum and big brother.  My fave song of yours! :)

    Hey guys-
I love your guys’ music so much! It is so encouraging!!! I have been going through some tough times with some things going on in my church and just life in gerneral, and “By Your Side” has been a song that I can turn on and it helps me feel so much better.
The first time I heard it on the radio I almost cried and I still just about cry every time I hear it.
I have been to Russia the past four summers on a missison trip and every year it gets harder and harder to leave. Coming back home is so hard. I love sharing the stories and freindships that have grown over there with people back here in the states, but it’s difficult because unless they were there they don’t truely understand what I am feeling and the love I have for my friends and family and just the community over there. In a way feel really alone. I feel like no one understands what I am feeling.  I am torn, and part of me is still left in Russia. The song “By Your Side” has really been a help. It reminds me that no matter what pain I may feel or how alone I may feel, God is always there. He understands what I am going through and He feels my pain. He is by my side through it all, and will continue to be there. I just need to run to His side and He is always waiting for me with His arms open wide.
This is just a small example of how the song has helped me out. It has helped me out in so many other ways to!
It is so neat to see God working through you guys and the songs you guys play.
I really hope that next time you are in the Phoenix area I can go to your concert!

    Thanks so much,

I just moved from Juneau, AK to Anchorage, AK. I have always had someone that I have known and take me to church with them. So this is the first time that I have many options for what church to go to! I pray that God will direct me to where he desires me to go to and get plugged in and find the fellowship that I need! PS You all should come to AK!

    Mike,

I have been married for almost 2 years now and recently came back to God. While I have always believed I wasnt right in my life. I am now striving to be better for my daughter and our family. My husband is a believer but doesn’t think he needs to go to Church to show it (worship).  I know if I ask him to go he will do it for me; however I really want him to want it like I do and not just for me and Angel. Should I just wait and pray he wants it on his own or ask him to attend church with me as a family?

    Thanks!

    Hey Tenth Avenue North!

I saw you at Tuscarora and at Hackmans this past year. I was just wondering when are you coming back to PA? and will you ever come back to Tuscarora?

Also I wanted to know what advice you have for someone to get involved with a career in music? How did you start out and how did you get to the level that you are at.

I’m a really huge fan and I hope i can make it to one of your concerts with all my friends! Thanks for everything.

Hi guys! I actually saw and met you back in March on the Rockin Worship Road Tour (not sure if I got that down correctly) and I had never heard your music before. That night, it left an impact on me.

My favorite songs are “Love is Here” and “Hold My Heart”. I’m actually trying to choreograph a dance to “Hold My Heart”. However all of this is besides the point.

I feel like…like personally I have sang “Hold My Heart” to God for so long and I can’t do it anymore. I feel to broken for words and it seems like there’s nothing God can, or at least cares to, do about it. I’m to the point where I’ve been on my knees for what seems like forever and I dont think God hears me. I dont feel like God can or will hold my heart. I know it’s normal for Christians to feel doubt at times and question, but have any of you guys ever felt specifically like this?

But all the same, I appreciate your guys’ music. Whether I get a response or not, I would like to say that you guys have some amazing work. Really soul touching and beautiful. Good job and keep up the good work!

    Hey Mike,

So a bunch of my friends in my youth group have fallen into drugs and alcohol.. They are all such great kids, but they all say that they have it under control and can quit anytime they want too which I know that the more they do the harder it is to quit…and I dont know what to do anymore.. I praying about it all the time, but I feel like Im just sitting back and doing nothing, I was wondering if you had any other advice than praying?—-Dont get me wrong, I know prayer is a powerful thing, but I just want to do more, if you know what I mean. Thanks a bunch!

    Hey guys,

I was wondering about a lyric in your bonus track on itunes, “lovesick”. At the end of the chorus it says ” you’re all I need but you never seem to be enough.” I was just wondering what that meant to you guys and what inspired you to write that song.

    thanks! :)

    Hey,
First of all, I’m a big fan of your music…. “Love Is Here” actually made me cry, I think because it was something that I just really needed to hear. I’ve been going through a lot of depression lately, feeling kinda like God didn’t care about me. I’ve also been struggling with thoughts of suicide, and needing to find some help and someone to talk to. But…. Who’d wanna talk to a possibly suicidal girl like me? I know that it’s not the right answer, but…. I’m running low on hope with anything else. So…. Do you have any advice for me? Let me know. Ok? And…. Thanks.

This is not a question. It’s a request. It’s been a blessing born into a christian family with two loving parents. But lately, my parents have been arguing a lot due to the cause of my dad (who made new friends the past few months) going out too much even for unnecessary stuff. Breaks my heart to see them further and further away from each other… and even worse, moving further away from God, too. Being the oldest of 5 children, feels like it’s my duty keep them together. But….I don’t know how. Other than praying, I have no backbone of speaking to them face to face. Please pray for my family.

I listen to the song “Beloved” all the time to remind me that my first priority is pursuing a deeper relationship with the Lord.

I was wondering if it was strange at first for you as guys to be referred to as the “bride of Christ.”  As a young lady I love that picture, but I wondered if it feels different to guys.

Hey guys, what is your ideal situation for writing music? Like, where do you go for inspiration? I’ve been trying to write some songs, and I can’t seem to find a good place to just “write”. It seems like something is always going on to distract me.

Also…what is your idea for the best way to resist temptation. I’ve been battling it for a while, and feel a little weak at times. I just wanted some advice.

Thanks so much for all you do!

Love your music - thank you for using your talents for God!  Your songs have helped remind me of what’s true, and carried me through some rough times. Mike, I remember during the Roadshow, Bart left the laptop on backstage, and you came in and sat down with your guitar and played us a song and then just spoke from your heart to all of us watching the livestream - it was awesome!  Saw you guys at the Roadshow in Fresno - my question is how do we get you guys back out to California on this tour???  Would love to see you again!

So my first question is Why aren’t you coming to Michigan? :-)

Next question is how do you work to keep God in mind as you go through the day? I mean it always seems so easy to follow God when you’re at church or when you’re reading the bible or something, but what about during normal everyday activities and social interactions? How is God an active presence and not just an afterthought?

I think this is an outstanding idea. I love out of the box thinking! The element of Hold my Heart that I appreciate and love is it took me forever to learn honesty is the best policy. Especially when dealing with God. When I lost my Dad I carried alot of guilt that really wasn’t mine to carry. On the outside I was praising God that Dad was in heaven but on the inside my heart was broken and I was angry. What release I felt when finally I went to God and said listen, how could you and why etc….It was then God could start to minister to me. Once I had that experiance I never hesitate now to him what is on my heart. Truth is He knows anyway. I pray for you guys. One thing that impresses me so much with you guys is your guineuiness. I would love the chance to one day sit and chat with you. God Bless!

    Hi,  couple questions for Brenton:
    1.  Can you elaborate a bit more on CFS.  I’m sure it has slowed you down, in all ways.  And what are the chances that your wife has the same thing!?!?
    2.  I read your Bio; you stated that you do travel across the States and beyond leading worship in churches, is there a site I can reference for any upcoming visits in the US?  (I will; however, check into it via the internet too.)
God bless you and your family, be well.

    Two questions for Mike:

    1.  Have you ever considered (in your future) becoming a pastor?  Your scriptures are so right on; I know you’re referencing the bible, but it’s in how you “speak” it and pose questions to different scripts, is overwhelming to me and right-on.  I am sure you’d have a huge congregation; I’d even fly out to where you are to worship with you, really I would.  Fer sure.

    2.  My church is (has) fallen apart - don’t want to go into details - (even at bible study they argue and judge, I stopped going), but what shall I really look for in a Christian church; I don’t want judgments, jealousy with elders and youngers, I don’t want to talk about politics and such, I just want to worship Jesus and get as much of Him inside me as I can (which I do thru my bible), and you, truly.  Can you give me a couple key items to look for when visiting new churches?  We have Bible study at work every Wednesday, it’s awesome, and it’s what it should be.

Thank you so much for this opportunity to ask questions.  I’m coming to the Joisey show on September 19th with my girlfriends.

    God bless.
Laurie S., Holland, PA (no one from my church is coming with me to the show or will read this!  ?)
